The New Zealand Cornish Association was formed in August 1962
	"to promote fellowship and foster goodwill among Cornish people in New Zealand through social gatherings, to help Cornish people settle in the Dominion, to provide an information service for those visiting Cornwall, to stimulate interest in the history, antiquities, traditions and social conditions of Cornwall and to aid approved movements in and connected with Cornwall."
The current membership is spread over a wide area covering the length and breadth of New Zealand, which makes attending meetings virtually impossible for some members. A five-weekly Newsletter keeps members informed of happenings in Cornwall and New Zealand. Branch Meetings in three of the larger centres are well attended and offer a variety of speakers, more often than not with a Cornish content. Special meetings provide entertainment with Cornish singing, dancing and story telling.
